For decades, legacy governing bodies have pulled off one of the greatest shakedowns in Australian motorsport: the national race licence.
Before you even load your car onto the trailer or open your toolbox, they force you to hand over hundreds of dollars for a plastic card just for the "privilege" of lining up at your local track.
Where does that money actually go? It doesn't go to the bloke operating the grader on a Friday night. It doesn't buy fuel for the track prep equipment. It disappears entirely into the Ivory Tower to fund corporate boardrooms, executive salaries, and administrative bloat thousands of miles away from the actual racing.
It is a scam. And under the Motorsport Association Australia (MAA) banner, we are cutting the head off the snake.
ZERO CORPORATE RACE LICENCES. PERIOD.
The MAA does not sell national race licences. We do not believe you should have to pay an ongoing corporate tax just to race a car in this country.
Under our framework, the local track is the absolute sovereign authority. You don't need permission from a national bureaucracy to go racing, and you certainly don't need to fund their corporate lifestyles.
When you compete at an MAA-Accredited track, the system is simple, honest, and entirely local.
HOW THE MONEY ACTUALLY WORKS UNDER MAA
We believe that the money generated by the track must stay in the track. Here is exactly what happens when a venue breaks away from the old cartel and adopts the MAA framework:
-
No Annual Licence Fees: Drivers and crews do not buy an annual MAA licence. You simply pay your entry fee directly to the local track on race day.
-
100% Stays Local: Every single dollar from gate takings, entry fees, pit passes, and canteen sales stays directly with the local track's Management Company or NFP structure. The MAA does not take a percentage cut of your entries.
-
Funding the Facility, Not the Bureaucrats: Because the money stays inside the local club kitty, track operators finally have the liquid capital to pay for track maintenance, upgrade safety barriers, hire top-tier medical crews, and build better, faster, safer circuits.
A BETTER DEAL FOR DRIVERS AND PROMOTERS
For the Competitors & Crews
You stop bleeding cash before you even arrive at the paddock. Racing becomes affordable again, and you know with absolute certainty that the hard-earned money you hand over at the sign-on shed is going directly toward making your local facility better, safer, and more competitive.
For the Promoters & Track Builders
You finally get to keep the revenue your asset generates. You are no longer acting as an unpaid tax collector for a distant governing body. You run your business, you manage your risk under our master safety shield, and you keep the profits to reinvest in your own infrastructure.
STOP FUNDING THE IVORY TOWER
Support independent tracks, keep your money local, and put the power back into the hands of the people who actually build Australian motorsport.
Racing for a Reason: MAA proudly operates in partnership with the MAA Driver Safety Charity. Driven by a commitment to make a tangible difference on and off the track, all money raised through this MAA division directly funds grassroots driver education, advanced car control, and life-saving safety training initiatives across Australia. When you work with us, you aren't just protecting your business and securing your drive—you are actively helping to equip drivers with essential road skills and ensuring everyone makes the journey home safely.
